· LONGi Hi-MO 5 modules will be deployed at five projects across Spain
· Deal builds on two companies’ long-standing cooperation
· Agreement advances utility Naturgy’s growth in renewable sector
5th February 2024, Madrid (Spain)— Solar technology leader LONGi and energy utility firm Naturgy have signed a new module shipment agreement for Naturgy’s 2024 solar projects in Spain. LONGi will deliver just over one million modules from its Hi-MO 5 series, with a total output volume of 574 MWp. These bifacial modules feature a 21.3% efficiency rate, along with LONGi’s gallium-doped technology, which is designed to reduce light-induced degradation and extend the modules’ power generation long-term, particularly important in the high heat and solar irradiance of Spain.
The Spanish multinational Naturgy plans to install the modules at upcoming projects in four project locations across the country, in the regions of Castilla-La Mancha, Extremadura and Andalusia.
Jorge Barredo, Managing Director of Renewables, New Business and Innovation at Naturgy, said, “The scale of this new agreement with LONGi reflects Naturgy’s ambition for renewables in Spain this year. LONGi’s solar technology also offers us an exceptionally efficient and durable performance,. This is a key factor in building out Spanish photovoltaics and competing with traditional power sources.”
David Sánchez Escarti, LONGi´s General Manager Spain & Portugal added, “We are very honoured of our long-term partnership with Naturgy that was started in 2018. With Naturgy’s extraordinary renewables track record, we’re proud to be expanding our cooperation and supporting these major new projects. These new photovoltaics plants in Spain will showcase the business and technological leadership that we’re committed to providing together”
All five projects are expected to receive module shipments this year.
