Morocco - February 24, 2024 - In recent years, LONGi, a foremost solar technology company, has consistently broken world records for solar cell efficiency by navigating various technical avenues. A pivotal achievement was made in December when LONGi surpassed its own records in Silicon Heterojunction Back-Contact (HBC) Cells efficiency. This technology, which involves the junction of two distinct materials, represents a significant leap in the evolution of the solar industry.

LONGi's recent introduction of module technology that features BC batteries, combined with an innovative anti-dust accumulation design, marks a notable advancement over the previous generation of PERC technology, offering nearly a 12% boost in power generation. This BC battery technology, by shifting the battery grid to the back, not only improves light absorption and battery efficiency but also addresses the challenging task of isolating positive and negative electrodes on the same side in industrial production.

The company's commitment to research and development is evident in its investment of over 18 billion yuan over the past five years. Its development of the Heterojunction Back Contact solar cell, reaching an unprecedented 27.09% cell conversion efficiency, sets a new global benchmark for monocrystalline silicon solar cell efficiency. Experts foresee BC battery technology dominating the crystalline silicon battery market in the next five to six years.

ZHANG HAIMENG, LONGi's Vice President, emphasized that the advancement of photovoltaic technology and cost reduction are multifaceted, highlighting China's role in forming the largest industrial group in this sector with its comprehensive facilities and efficient system for collaborative innovation.

In addressing customer feedback, LONGi took note from its Global Customer Satisfaction Survey 2022, revealing that dust accumulation issues were a concern in 80.13% of commercial and industrial (C&I) scenarios. These challenges, attributed to factors like gentle roof slopes, significant dust at high-emission enterprises, low cleaning frequency in enclosed areas, and maintenance difficulties, led to a power loss of 23.39% under laboratory conditions with a dust height of 90mm. Responding to this, LONGi launched thousands of experiments, culminating in the Hi-MO X6 Anti-dust solution, a direct response to the significant issue of dust accumulation, ensuring improved functionality and efficiency in C&I settings. Anti-dust modules have officially been launched in the MENA market, attracting significant attention at the Solaire Expo in Morocco on February 24th.

LONGi's strategic R&D investments have not only propelled the industry forward but also contributed significantly to society. The company's focus on tackling correct and challenging endeavors, such as the establishment of the first lighthouse factory for green manufacturing in the photovoltaic industry, underscores its commitment to generating substantial value for customers and society alike.

The photovoltaic industry is evolving into a new form of productivity, with priorities centered around enhancing battery efficiency, investing in new materials, and reducing the cost of photovoltaic electricity. After over a decade of dedication, solar energy has become the most cost-effective electricity source in many countries, with Chinese firms, including LONGi, leading the production of global photovoltaic products. This leadership is pivotal to achieving energy transformation and emission reduction goals, aligning with the global momentum towards net-zero emissions.
